I Remember The Evolution of Online Gaming

SorgatronDecember 20, 20082 Comments

I remember when the internet wasn’t in our living rooms
I remember when multiplayer meant taking turns at Super Mario Bros.

I remember getting Quake to work
I remember the delay when you hit shoot
I remember buying Khali to play Duke and Starcraft online easier
I remember Unreal Tournament blowing the doors off online gaming
I remember when the Sega Dreamcast was so crazy for including a modem

I remember nutty modem periphrials for 16-bit systems that never got off the ground
I remember Sega’s Japan only download service via cable
I remember Nintendo talking about a similar service withs satellite delivery there
I remember Xbox Live being a crazy idea
I remember not wanted to buy a game without the disc
I remember the joy of Xbox Live, Wii, and especially, Steam and that they got it right
