Where have the Xmas Classics Come From?

SorgatronDecember 20, 20102 Comments

Ever think about it? When’s the last time there was a “new” Christmas classic. In the piles of Christina Aguilara and Maria Carey, and Justin Bieber (?) Christmas releases, we really on see a handful of real Christmas songs in the traditional sense. The newest acceptable songs I can think of from 1980 on are little more than remakes. Even The Boss had to cover one…

No Christmas special has been able to take hold like Rudolph, Santa Claus is Coming to Town, or even Charlie Brown. These get shown every year, yet I can’t find a DVD of a Muppet Family Christmas? (I’m surprised we didn’t get a Grungen Christmas from Naboo, to be honest)

I’m calling a conspiracy! I Rankin Bass level conspiracy!

What’s the most recent Christmas flick or song that’s taken a hold of you in this holiday season?

I hate to say it, but Boyz II Men's “Let it Snow” and Mariah Carey's “All I want for Christmas is You” fasten themselves to my brain with surgical adhesive this time of year. Only Bing Crosby can cure it. 🙂

I actually really really enjoy Coldplay's new Christmas song, Christmas Lights.
