What I Learned from 5 Years at S’eclairer

From the Sorgatron Media Creators Newsletter List for February 16, 2016.  You can Subscribe to it here or read the archive!

This week, I close a chapter on my first client that helped me launch Sorgatron Media as an independent, full time venture.  S’eclairer is a great facility run by Dr. Safdar Chaudhary.  At the time, he had recently completed having a show called “What’s on Your Mind?” on PCNC.  I was coming in to take that idea of outreach and education online instead.

Here’s what I learned:

  1. Mindfulness – It has become a sort of buzz word these days, but this group was on the forefront years ago.
  2. Translation – My background in Social Media was mostly forged from working on my own projects and getting them out there.  In this case, I was taking what S’eclairer offered, and the core values of the business and representing them online.  An interesting challenge as I learned about Integrative Medicine, Dialectical Behavior Therapy and Mindfulness and finding new ways to share that message.
  3. Working Within Limits – This job has been one day a week for the duration.  One day to figure out strategy, implement, make videos, and develop content.  There were a lot of initiatives and changes to the shape of the message. I don’t know if it was the right way to go about things, but I tried to pack a lot into 8 hours a week.  And it’s a package I’m still pretty happy with.
  4. I Still Love Culture – I love different cultures.  I love being in a city where I can sit at the Wendy’s on West Liberty Ave and hear a group of older men speaking polish drinking coffee in the morning.  I love that my Uncle speaks a smattering of Lithuanian still in his 90’s.  I loved that my client was a business

Most jobs that I’ve left were with a sigh of relief.  This one was a job that I will miss.  Filled with great people and experiences. Please go say hi to the people over at www.Seclairer.com, or go through the archives to see how their message developed over the years.  It’s some good stuff.
